Who are the most frequent guests of glamping resorts, do you agree?

Are you a frequent glampsite traveller or do you ocassionaly go to enjoy glampsites?

Glampsite frequente travellers in their mid 40's
We do not have any statistics that can help us to identify the kind of public that prefers glampsites to expend a part of their holidays or just to expend some weekends, but if we follow what some glampsite owners have told us, the most frequent guests are couples of ages in the group between 30 and 55 years old.

We think there are strong reasons for this. Glampsites in general are places at secluded locations where to expend some relaxing days. This kind of places are not the most attractive for teens or for expending some holidays with kids. As the guests expect to be relaxed, this is not compatible with kids running and souting around or for teenagers having late parties at night.

Luxury glamping tent for guestsAnother strong reason is the price for spending few days there, this kind of resorts are not in the low cost side of the tourist lodgings, so the public must have an income or an spending capacity above the average.

But this is just what we have concluded from our own impressions and conversations and it could be very interesting to know about yuor own experience. Have you ever be a glampsite guest, are you a frequent glamping visitor? If so, please let us know about your age (more less) and your own expectations for the kind of guests you prefer to find when you go there.

How can I start my glamping business?

Tips to create a profitable glampsite

First of all, we should agree what a glampsite is. I have my own definition: a glampsite is a luxury tourist resort in a natural privileged site where guest are accomodated in luxury glamping tents.
But, what a luxury glamping tent is? A big size tent with a nice design which is robust enough to be comfortable even under inclement weather and which is furnished with a king size bed, a nice furniture, a floor that can be stepped on with your bare feet with a warm feeling and which include a private bathroom.

Then there are a lot of possible variations from this view, as much as glampsite owners!
Once we have agree in the concept, then the environment should be considered. A glampsite is mainly addressed to couples that can spend a few days in a private area and have at least a 400 m2 plot for their own in order to preserve their privacy. A key question is to have a common area with a nice restaurant and a lounge area where to meet with other customers if the guests want or just to seat there and having a drink.

Don’t forget the parking area and the accesses to the site, one for the guests and one for the staff and supplies.

In order to all that works well it is necessary to have sanitation and water and energy supplies well arranged they can be made of stand alone systems or connected to grid or general conductions systems, but in any case they should be respectful with the environment and to be sure of that you should comply with local regulations as well s general ones.

So, first of all you should be clear about your investment: tents, furniture, decoration, bathrooms, lounge, restaurant, general services, access to the tents and to the site, parking, water and electricity supply and sanitation.

But investment is not enough, you should also be prepared for runnig a business that is expected to be profitable. It is important you consider the night rates and occupancy in order to calculate income, but also you should be aware of operating expenses.

If you offer just lodging your glampsite should be at a fantastic location in order to attract the costumer, but this is not always possible. If you want your glampsite is remembered and recommended to others by your guests, you should offer a menu of experiencial services, bicycles to ride, maybe horse rides and others in summary an unforgotable experience for your guests.

HOW TO OFFER A HIGH END MOBILE SAFARI

African storks and hippos, part of the wildlife you can get closer to on a mobile safari

The main advantage of a mobile safari is that you can get closer to the animals because you can go where they are to watch them.

This kind of luxury travels is the best way to enjoy the African wildlife watching.

Mobile safari tour companies have the ability to move their mobile camps while you are enjoying the wildlife watching from the place where you slept last night to the place where you are going to sleep tonight.

If you are a mobile safari organizer or owner, in order to be able to move the camp 100 or 150 km away everynight you need a well trained staff that are able to pack everything in the camp just inmediately after the breakfast is served to the guests and they have left for their daily tourist journey and that can set up the camp at the next location in order to have everything ready for dinner before the guests arrive.

It is obvious that to be able to pack and unpack fast and to set the tents down and then up in the shortest possibe time you will need tents that can be easily assembled and dissasembled and that can be easily transported from one place to another, and also very important is that the tents are lightweight so yo can use light vehicles to transport everything, but you need that all these features do not sacrify the guests’ comfort.

In order to offer a luxury lodging for your guests the tents should keep the temperature inside cooler than the outside air temperature at daytime and warmer at night and at the same time keep the air fresh inside while having the holes covered by mosquito nets and the groundsheets sealed to the tent body in order to avoid insects, reptiles, bugs or mud entering the tent thorugh te bottom side, while be strong and robust.

7 steps to create a luxury glamping business, are you ready?

Though without tents we can’t have a glamping business, the tent’s cost is not the major part of a luxury glamping business investement.

If you ever think of starting a glamping business you should consider the costs of every thing you may need to prepare and to invest in before you are able of hiring your tents to your guests.
    Resultado de imagen de idea
1. IDEA. First of all you will need to have an idea about what you want to make real in order to make your dream come true. Maybe this is the way you have chosen to swift from your current not very pleasent job to another one more exciting that can helps you to feel your live closer to the full life you desire to have, or it is just a way to enlarge your hospitality business by offering new services.

2. LAND. Second and a very important one is to have a piece of land where to deploy your tents preferably with nice views and a pleasent natural scenery and space enough for your guest to have their proper relaxing area, maybe of your own or maybe borrowed form someone else.

3. PERMITS. Third, you will have to ask to the local authorities for the permits in order to be able of hiring tents to your future guests.

4.PROJECT. Then you need to prepare the project, several things are to be considered, you will need to think where to place the tents, but also about the accesses to each of them, the space for parking, the general services for the guests, as restaurant, reception desk, lounge or administrative office. And of course, you shouldn’t forget the bathrooms for the clients.

5. LUXURY GLAMPING TENTS. After previous points have been fullfilled it would be advisable to choose the right tent to offer a comfortable lodging to your guests. A tent that is waterproof, that keeps the air fresh inside, one that is free of obstacles inside and around, and with thermal isolation in order to keep it cooler in summertime and warmer tham ambience temperature in winter and it is easily air conditioned. Of course the design of the tent is a must of your choice, it will give the imprint to your glampsite and it will be the picture your guests will have in their minds when they think about your glampsite.

6. ESTIMATE. Then you will have to make your numbers and should be careful to calculate not only the costs but also the price you are going to fix for the renting of the tents in order the glampsite is profitable and the prices are attractive enough for the customers to come to your glampsite. At this point you will discover that tents are not the major cost for a glampsite, things like pathways, general services, sanitation services, lighting, furniture, and everything it is needed for the glampsite to work as a high class tourist resort will sum up a quantitie bigger than that corresponding to the tents.

7. SERVICE AND MARKETING. Finally you have to put everithing to work, set up all the investment, including the preparation of the land, and having all the marketing you may need ready in order to your glampsite is known among those who can be your future guests and, of course, also to have the staff ready to serve the guests and offer them a relaxing and unforgottable stay, then you are about to start your luxury glampsite business.

What can you offer with a luxury glamping tent to make guests feel really comfortable in it?

The fith key factor to be consider in a luxury glamping tent is cleanless and safeness

Well, if you go to a glampsite of a certain category of course you expect to have the tent clean inside, but I am not talking about wheeping it, what I am talking about is of avoiding the mud, the water, the dust or the sand to get into the tent. But how to do that?

First of all it is important to have materials that can assure that the rain, wind - that transport the dust where we wud like to be free of it -, or snow cannot enter into the tent. Of course this is not only about using the right fabrics, but also about design, because the design of the tent should be done in order to have the holes and the junctions in the tent well covered an protected against weather inclemencies.

To reach this objective, the design of the tent should consider to have the holes protected and to create a closed environment for the inner of the tent while keeping it well ventilated and with fresh air, in order the guests can be inside the cabin without being disturbed by these annoying elements.

But ofcourse, it is needed to open holes in the tent fabrics just to pass through, like doors, ot to let the warm air and fragances of nature come into the tent, for beign able to do that without leaving the way opened to insects or bugs, this holes should be protected by mosquito net fabrics.

But if you are the owner of a glampsite you will desire to be able of clean up the tent in an easy way. The tightness of the tent fabrics helps a lot to do that in order not to have wrinkles that could make it a difficult task. The absence of guy-lines that allows to move around the tent is a feature that helps not also the comfort of guests but also the easiness of maintenance. Same happens with inner poles that could constitute an undesired obstacle to move freely inside the tent.

The absence of obstacles is a factor of safeness for users because when you go glamping you expect to enjoy a relaxing stay and not to have to avoid guy-lines crossing around the tent that could you make fall out when you trip on while carelessly walking from your tent to the surroundings when you go for a walk.

So, be sure to check all these features when you cose a tent for your glampsite in order to have your guest plently satisfied!

How is glamping business performing?

Glamping business a solid growth

Glamping is a growing industry that has been increasing its volume even during the crisis years.
Is this increase measurable?

In England, for instance, glamping bookings rose a 50 per cent, as reported by the Cool Camping website, over the first quater’18, following the rise in the number of overnight trips that doubled between 2015 and 2016, from 160,000 to 325,000 trips.

As Finantial Express has written  “Travellers want to be a part of immersive experiences without compromising on the luxuries and glamping is an ideal blend of luxurious accommodation and in-destination experiences.”

The glamping expert  Sarah Riley, the developer of ‘The Ultimate Glamping Business Guide’ and the ‘Marketing Masterclass For Unique Accommodation and Glamping Businesses’ says that “this is just the beginning and we haven’t reached the tipping point yet”.  And also, quoting the General Manager of glamping.com, she explains that “the market is being underserved in this market, especially in the U.S. and they also confirmed that the market itself was growing rapidly”.

As Rocío Arenado Operations Manager of Glamping Hub “The most demanded market is the North American one”, “United Kingdom and Australia are begining to blunt and in Spain is growing step by step”, but still so they have grown a 100% from last year”.

The recent study published early this summer by Aritzon Camping Tent Market in Europe - Industry Outlook and Forecast 2018-2023  shows that “The camping tent market in Europe is anticipated to generate revenues of around $1 billion by 2023, growing at a CAGR of approximately 6% during 2018-2023”.

For the time being, we have been able to collect some experts opinions and a few figures, but no solid statistics on the glamping business real trend. We will have to wait a bit for having real data, but for now we can say that, Glamping is booming!

How to avoid lightning strikes when going glamping?

Why a glamping tent’s structure shouldn’t be made of metal or carbon fiber?

Resultado de imagen de lightningA storm while being inside a glamping tent is not the best thing one would like to suffer when going glamping, but in case it happens be sure your tent’s structure in not made of any material that could attract the lightnings that can accompany a storm.

Electricity conducting materials like aluminum, or carbon fiber act as electrical poles of attraction for lightnings so this kind of materials can make a tent unsafe and should be avoided. Other materials like fiberglass are non electrecity conducting materials so they can be considered as materials safe for tents.

Before buying a glamping tent for your glamping resort you should checked that the struture of the tents you are planning to buy is made of non conductive materials, this will hel to keep your guests safer under the storm.

Paco Soto a reborn flamenco guitar player

Paco Soto dedicates his song “PACO” from his work “VIDA” to the famous flamenco guitar player Paco de Lucía

Paco SotoThis afternoon, while I was seated relaxing a bit inside my glamping tent, before reincprorating to my work tomorrow Monday, I listened at the radio to the flamenco guitarist Paco Soto who has been selected to play with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cologne next Saturday the 13th of October.

I was amaxzd by his impressive story, he has explained how while he was playing guitar, his left hand got paralyzed and he wasn¡t able to continue playing at all: a cancerous tumor had grown up inside him and had provocked him to have the half of his body paralyzed.

He also told how the day  was having a surgery to remove it, he said to his mother, “Before I enter the operating room I want to listen to Paco de Lucía’s Fuente y Caudal song, otherwise I won’t go inside”. His mother asked why and he said “Because for me is the LIFE”.

As the surgical operation was a success, he decided to publish a work entitled “Vida” (Life) presented past June and with its fith song “Paco”dedicated  to Paco de Lucia who he considers has saved his life thanks to his music.

Two weeks ago, the Paco de Lucía’s widow decided to lend the guitar of his husband to Paco Soto in order he plays it around the world.

As I was really moved by this amazing story and the simplicity and sincerity with which Paco Soto has told it, I have decided to share it with all of you.

Is glamping all that glitters?

Why I believe not everything that is called glamping should be considered us such.

I was trying to learn more about glamping resorts all around the world, so,  first of all I started to search woith the help of my browser “glamping” and “glampsite”, but I was a bit disappointed, many of the resorts that are using this words in their name have nothing to do with tents. Why with tents?, well, we shouldn’t forget the origin of the word, a combination of glamour and camping.

Out of Africa RoberT Redford an Merrill Strip at a tent

We all know that traditional camping concept is not glamorous at all for many reasons, if we talk about free camping usually we first think in a tent of “canadian” type: a gabled roof and two side walls not very tall, in general we remember when going camping was something that required spend te time in the tent bent like a japanese waving. In a tent like that it was not possible to stand upright, no very glamorous, and the space in a tent where we slept like canned sardines wasn’t either glamorous at all.

If we think about a campsite we will soon have in mind a site plenty of tents very close each to others and having to share bathrooms wiyh many other people. well, not much glamour really.

Lawrence de Arabia Tent, Peter O'toole, Omar Shariff,...

Then, when we watched once again one of those movies, Lawrence of Arabia, Out Africa..., most of us dreamt on going camping anywhere in a big tent like those that appeared on the screen, that was really glamorous!, even ome smaller than the one of Prince Faisal would be glamorous enough.

The glamping is a concept that has come to stay has everything that it is good of a tent but not the bad part of camping and also, in many cases what a hotel room could offer, but yes I believe that glamping has sense when it is about tents not wooden cabins, small apartments in the wild or concrete constructions inside nature, I wouldn’t call that glamping.

Ready for mushroom season?

Also a time for foodies while going glamping in the wild

In a few weeks our meadows and forests will start to be plenty of mushrooms.

In mushroom season also enjoy glamping

While going glamping in the wild it is a good and healthy entertainment going to collect mushrooms.

Some mushrooms collected while glampingOne of the most exquisite ones is the scientifically known as Coprinus Comatus by its Latin name, but  this one is not easy to remember by non initiated people, so some other more common names have risen and this mushroom is also known as a shaggy ink cap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane.

When you find some of them you shouldn’t let them there for longer or shouldn’t have them for long at kitchen without eating them. You should try to eat them on the collecting day unless you are preparing them canned, in such a case you should dry them before. But if you let your just
Mushroom preparation before they transform into inkcollected Coprinus for a day or two, as well as if you come to the next day to pick them up, you’ll be surprised by their fast transformation in a black ink. Yes, you read correctly, ink! In fact, nazis during World War II mixed the Comatus ink with normal ink in order avoid being fooled by enemies with counterfeits of German documents. If they found Coprinus’ spores in the document while examining the ink under the microscope then they could be sure that it was a real one and not a forged document.

Glampsite at the forest for collecting mushrooms
So be ready to eat your lawyer’s wigs and enjoy an excellent dish, but if you are not an expert or you are not sure enough, be careful! some mushrooms can be dangerous because of the poison they contain. The best advice is: ONLY eat the mushroom you are confident enough on it, either because you have the required knowledge, or because it is served in a reputed restaurant or sold in a store you can trust.

Is it possible to swift from architechture to glamping?

The success story of two Colombian architects

Claudia and Benjamín are two Colombian architects who decided to open a new business apart from their architecture studio and to start a glamping adventure.

In Guasca, Colombia they had a beautiful land with a scenic view and they want to diversify their profesional activity, so they decided to install there a glampsite.

As good architects, they made a nice design of the resort, they took time to choose the right tents and they found Ctents luxury glamping tents while looking for tents in internet. As they wanted to check them before buying and they wanted to optimize their investment, they asked for help to the brother of him who happen to live in Spain, Javier went to check the Ctents with his wife while keeping a video conference thanks to her smatphone. This option let them to know in deep about Ctents and realize that they were the tents they needed, waterproof, wide inside, luminous and robust, perfect for the rainy climate of Guasca.

They prepared the glampsite in a record period of time and chose a very atractive name “Maloca Glamping” - Maloca is the name of an ancient communal construction in Colombia used by natives -, when they had it ready they started to offer the booking through social networks and other means.

They hadn’t worked before as innkeepers so they had everything to learn about, but they did their best and they find that their ability to communicate and to make public reltionships was quite good.
Soon the guests started to book and their pleasent stays were soon spreaded through word of mouth.

After a year of hard work, they are happy as they have succeed with their touristic offer and they are planning to increase the number of malocas, as they call the lodging tents, and they are already working on the extesion of the glampsite.

Congratulations!

September equinox, time for glampig?

September Equinox: autumn equinox for some, spring equinox for others

The equinox is when day and night have the same duration in all the places on Earth.

September equinox. 12 hours day and 12 night. Time for glamping
Image: NASA
In the night between 23rd and 24th of September it has happened the september equinox, the time when the day and night have the same duration all over the earth, the same number of hours, 12, while in the North hemisphere the day length starts to shorten, the opposite happens in the South hemisphere.

Equinox means "equal night" in Latin, capturing the idea that daytime and nighttime are equal lengths everywhere on the planet.

This time in september is a great time to look at the stars from a glamping tent, have you ever thought about it and discovering all what can see above us? You can spend a night or part of it while experiencing the pleasure of discovering the different constellations that our ancestors named and those others that had received a name in recent times.

Are you game?

What makes a glamping tent really comfortable?

6 FEATURES THAT MAKES A GLAMPING TENT COMFORTABLE

Even if I liked a lot the little apartment where I used to live when I was still single and used to live alone, when I entered the big house of my friend Ricardo with his big garden and his wide living room I really felt better without any doubt. For me it is very clear that a wide interior is the first feature that makes a tent comfortable.

However, there was something that I really liked from my small apartment and it was the sunlight coming through the window, it made me feel comfortable, I consider this feature the second feature a glamping tent needs to be luminous.

When I go to a trip I like to stay in a comfortable lodging but even this is something essential for me it is not enough, I need to have a nice views to the oudside in order to really feel I am on holidays of course this should be the third feature of a glamping tent for me.

One thing that my apartment didn’t have was space enough to move around I was continually hitting the table, the fridge, any thing, becuase every time I moved there was something inthe middle of my path, maybe this is the reason I consider this the fourth feature a glamping tent must have.

When I was younger, I used to go camping and spite I liked it a lot I couldn’t stand not having space enough to stand fully upright, and this is a feature, the fith, that I really appreciate in a glamping tent for an adult not having to bow and being able as an adult to stand fully upright in most of its surface.

But what I hated most in a camping tent was when it rained, I tried several tents, but under the rain or after it all of them presented leakages and this is something can ruin your nice holidays at the wild so
I consider this sixth feature a must for a glampung tent to be waterproof.

At my camping times, it was common not to expect any comfort unless you were an Arab sheik in the desert or a king in ancient times. Even more, it was usually expected some kind of discomfort while you had to use the tent, but these days are being left behind. Nowadays the things have changed and most users expect some degree of comfort and some of them an extraordinary degree of comfort while spending holidays in a luxury glampsite, even on occasions better than what they can have at their own homes.

A really luxury glamping tent should have this six features to be consider us such.

Glamping reaches window displays!

In not much more than a decade glamping has traveled from connoisseurs' knowledge to shopping centers

Yesterday, while I was doing some shopping at a shopping center close to my home looking for some clothing I needed and promenading lazily after having finished to find what I needed when I was amazingly surprised by a window display where a detailed recreation of a glamping tent with a big bed inside and fully furnished complete with all the details you may need for having a comfortable stay.

Glamping at a shopping center window dispaly

The most relevant point for me was that is not just a window display of a medium sized local brand but. The display belongs to one of the most famous Spanish global fashion brands, with more than seven thousand shops distributed throughout ninety-six markets in the five continents and with shops in the main streets of the main cities of the world which has also diversified to home clothing small furniture ans home accessories.

For me there is only one meaning for the fact that glamping is arriving to window displays, particularly in an area, Majadahonda, and a country, Spain, where glamping is not a common choice for holidays although this kind of tourism is increasingly gaining a foothold , the meaning is not only that glamping has come to stay but that it is really a tourism tipology that, like a hungry bear would do, is going to take a big piece of the tourism cake.

That is good news for the glamping market as a whole and for the all the business involved in this market that is growing faster and faster with solid steps all around the world.

Is the summer really over?

Still time for glaping holidays

While the population at North Hemisphere is experiencing the days shortening, the heat  getting softer and the nights getting fresher, still there huge areas of our planet where either the summer is getting closer or is the natural state of climate as in the countries near the Equator, so for glamping lovers it is plenty of places to go on holidays. those who were not able to enjoy vacations during July or August have now the opportunity to travel to those sites where the summer still is waiting for us.

Be ready to find your site and don’t forget to be sure the glamping accomodation you choose has comfortable tents prepared for occasional inclement weather in order to enjoy a relaxing time as deserved without undesired inconviniences.

Travelling around in September guarantees you less populated tourist resorts where to enjoy     a pleasant stay.

What is easiness of use in a tent?

5 basic properties that makes a tent easy to use?

A tent can be used for several purposes, can be merely a temporary lodging at a campsite or in a free camping outing, a resting place in the middle of a race tour, a safari tour, a suite for the happy pair or their guest at a glamping wedding, a showroom during an event, a luxury tent for glamping purposes at a unique natural site, a place where replenish forces during a music festival, can be also used for professional teams while working in an emergency, military during an operation, sanitary personnel at a camp hospital, by refugees as temporary housing and so many other uses.

Ctents spare parts
It doesn’t mind what purpose the tent is going to be used for, the vast majority of users expect that the tent has easiness of use, but, what this really means?

First of all, the tent should be easy to transport, with a size and weight of packages easily manageable at hand with the minimum amount of people as possible. But once the tent is in its place, this is not a major issue.

Second, the access into the tent and the way out of it is something easy, preferably it is not necessary to bow down in order to tresspass the door of the tent and it is possible to do it just walking.

Third, when closing the door either from inside or from outside the operation should be done easily and safely with a minimum effort and in a simple way.

Fourth, tent should be easy to maintain with the possibility of repairing any damage that the tent could have suffered on its fabrics, the possibility of incorporating spare parts if needed and the capacity of doing in a short sequence of basic and easy operations.
